THE FRAMEWORK

Italy produces 30Mton/year of urban solid waste of which 7.8M end up at the landfill, after mechanical biological treatment (MBT).

Landfills take in also 400k ton/year of the about 3Mln/ton sludge produced by the treatment of urban sewage, for a total of 8.2Mton/year.

Standard treatment of waste remains still too expensive and underperforming in terms of reduction of waste volumes, reduction of the bacterial load and waste refining.

Turning point for the environment

At the completion of the screening phase, the amount of dry waste is increasingly higher (COD CER 191212). This waste, which is landfilled or sent for waste combustion, has no reuse properties in the circular economy. Using TRITOR instead, the waste can be transformed into a powerful and eco-friendly fuel source. Thanks to crushing and to the elimination of the organic material present, the treatment provides SSF (Secondary Solid Fuel) with excellent heating power. After a strict quality certification phase, all SSF produced by TRITOR is recognised as TRITOR ENERGY.
